dots2drops has initiated skill revolution movement in India. In last few months of its journey, it has made steady progress in evangelizing the skill movement. New jobs from foreign MNCs, in software sector, got moved to China in last 6+ years. English language becoming no more a problem for Chinese students and the claim foreign MNCs making that they get better work productivity from China at less cost (one third to one-fifth)are the key factors influencing the shift of new jobs to China. Now the question is - when do we wake up and how?;keeping our future generation in mind. Today's question is - if we do not wake up now to enhance our holistic software skills and deliver more value, what would be the consequences? All of us know the answers for these questions, but we just do not pay "required" attention.
Most often asked questions are - which language to learn: Java, C, C++, Python, etc and which database to learn: Oracle, MySQL, Neo4J, Mongo, etc or how about Hadoop or Analytics? Different customers use different software applications and these applications are developed with one or more of these technologies. I have come across few students learning multiple languages, one after the other assuming they will get a job in either. We all know the saying - Jack of all, Master of none; More than learning multiple languages or databases at the beginning of their career, being good at fundamentals of software engineering, which many students including those coming from CSE background are lacking nowadays, is very important.
Software industry itself is undergoing a transformation towards consuming cloud and mobile platforms. One must be aware of latest technology trends and changing business trends to survive in software industry. Watch out this newsletter for regular updates about skills, jobs, trends in software industry.
I wish this newsletter by dots2drops would act as a bridge between Software Companies, Skill Organizations, Training Institutes, Campuses, Freshers, Students and Researchers.
Welcoming you to join this skill movement,
Best Regards

Are internships important during semester breaks?
" ... Internships make students more competitive in the job market. In addition to gaining exposure and experience in the field, they also provide an opportunity to see if the particular career field is the right one for them. It may help provide a valuable reference letter at the least and may even lead to a potential job offer. Internships are a great learning experience for students; asking questions and keeping flexible throughout the internship can open many doors. Internships can build connections within a career field. Students can build their professional network which will be invaluable in job search, as most jobs are found through networking."
