Most often asked questions are - which language to learn: Java, C, C++, Python, etc and which database to learn: Oracle, MySQL, Neo4J, Mongo, etc or how about Hadoop or Analytics? Different customers use different software applications and these applications are developed with one or more of these technologies. I have come across few students learning multiple languages, one after the other assuming they will get a job in either. We all know the saying - Jack of all, Master of none; More than learning multiple languages or databases at the beginning of their career, being good at fundamentals of software engineering, which many students including those coming from CSE background are lacking nowadays, is very important.
Software industry itself is undergoing a transformation towards consuming cloud and mobile platforms. One must be aware of latest technology trends and changing business trends to survive in software industry.
